Leaf and Pen is directed by Eve Becker. Eve taught secondary school English in New York City for two decades. Prior to that, she was a freelance writer and editor in both print and digital publishing, and was a writer-in-the-schools, working with students and teachers in K-12 classrooms around the city. She currently teaches writing at Pace University and supervises student teachers at Teachers College, Columbia University. Eve was awarded the nationally acclaimed Pushcart Prize for her essay "Final Concert" (Pushcart Prize 2012) and is the author of over thirty published young adult novels. She holds a BA from Oberlin College, an MSEd from Cambridge College, and an EdM from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Zachary Kronstat, Associate Director of Leaf and Pen, is a secondary English teacher in New York City. He is also a writer of short fiction and poetry. He has presented widely on writing pedagogy, most recently with Leaf and Pen at The 2019 NCTE National Conference. Outside of all those texts, he’s a hopeful Yiddishist, avid skateboarder, lover of long city walks, and eater of all city foods. He completed an M.A. in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and a B.A. in Educational studies, Sociology and Anthropology at Swarthmore College.
